Mumbai A big relief and good news has emerged for the passengers from Navi Mumbai International Airport. Now this airport will operate 24 hours instead of 12 hours. From today i.e. 1st February, round the clock flight services have been made available at Navi Mumbai Airport. Earlier this airport was functional only from 8 am to 8 pm.
Let us tell you that it was started for passengers from 25th December. Initially the operations were started with limited time and limited flights, but now with the extension of operating time, the number of flights is expected to increase rapidly. This will not only increase passenger convenience but will also reduce air traffic pressure on the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
Movement of about 10 planes per hour
Although the official schedule of late night and midnight flights has not been announced at present, but according to sources, midnight services will also be started soon. At present, the last flight from Navi Mumbai airport departs at 9.50 pm, while the first flight operates at 7.10 am. After getting 24-hour permission, airlines are preparing to gradually increase their slots.
Sources associated with the aviation industry said that when the summer schedule of airlines comes into effect at the end of March, there will be a big jump in the number of flights at Navi Mumbai Airport. While at present there is movement of about 10 aircraft per hour, this number is likely to increase to 20 per hour by the month of April.
One lakh passengers traveled in just 19 days
So far only two additional aircraft have been added to the airport, but in the coming days and weeks many airlines may increase the number of flights from Navi Mumbai Airport. This will open the way for domestic as well as international flights in future. Navi Mumbai Airport also achieved an important operational milestone on January 12. Within just 19 days of the airport’s opening, one lakh passengers had traveled through it, which shows its popularity and utility.
Will strengthen the country’s aviation infrastructure
If seen globally, there is a ban on night time flights at many airports in Europe and America. Generally, airports there remain closed from 11 pm to 5 am to control noise pollution. If a passenger gets stuck during this period, he has to leave the terminal. In contrast, India’s major airports remain open 24 hours a day, providing safe space to passengers even at night. The 24×7 operation of Navi Mumbai Airport is being considered an important step in this direction, which will improve the convenience of passengers, capacity of airlines and strengthen the aviation infrastructure of the country.
