
The Supreme Court, while hearing the petitions to review the mandatory 3-year practice rule for appointment to the Judicial Service (Civil Judge Junior Division), said that these rules will remain in force. Now all that has to be decided is what should be the methods of implementing the rules. Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Augustine George Masih and Justice K. Division Bench of Vinod Chandran ordered that the High Courts which have already issued advertisement for Civil Judge (Junior Division) posts, should extend the last date of application till April 30, 2026.
Hearing will be held next week
Along with this, the Supreme Court has asked to set the same last date in the new advertisements released in future. The bench of judges of the Supreme Court was told that the recruitment process has started in some states. On this, the court said that the review petitions will be heard next week and extending the date of application will solve the immediate problem of the candidates.
Appeal to respect the decision
Senior advocate Pinky Anand had demanded postponement of the practice requirement for the time being. The court did not accept this. CJI Surya Kant said that the condition of practice of three years has been fixed by the decision of the Supreme Court. He should be respected. The purpose of the practice condition is to give candidates practical experience of the functioning of the courts.
