Chhatarpur: Among Hindus, a person cannot marry for the second time until he gets divorced from his first wife. Or the wife may not die due to some untoward incident. If any Hindu young man marries a second wife while still having his first wife, then it is wrong in the eyes of law. There is also a provision for punishment in it. But there are many people who keep their first wife deceiving them in order to marry more than once. Then they get married again. One such case has come to light from Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh, whose story will shiver your soul.
In Surajpur village, a disabled woman was not only subjected to domestic violence but her husband also remarried without divorce. Victim Hemlata Sahu has filed a complaint against her husband Rakesh Sahu and her in-laws in the SP office, demanding justice.
According to Hemlata, she was married to Laxman alias Rakesh Sahu, resident of Surajpura, in the year 2021. Shortly after the marriage, the in-laws started demanding Rs 2 lakh. When his demand was not met, he was beaten up. During his illness, he was allegedly given dubious medicine, due to which he almost completely lost his eyesight. After becoming disabled, he has also been accused of throwing him out of the house considering him a burden.
The victim alleges that the husband married a woman named Rajkumari for another lakh rupees without getting a divorce. In the month of August, she was called on the pretext of agreement and beaten again, due to which she suffered serious head injury and she became dependent on others for daily tasks.
Hemlata also alleged that taking advantage of her blindness, her fingerprints were fraudulently put on notarized documents, in which it was mentioned that she would get married for the second time with her consent. Police say that the actual status of the legality and consent of the notary will become clear only after investigation.
Husband Rakesh Sahu says that he loves both the women and does not want to leave anyone. He claimed that the first wife was already blind and the marriage was done by hiding this fact from him. He has taken a live-in relationship with the other woman and both of them can live together. He has denied the allegations of assault and expulsion from the house.
The second woman, Rajkumari Sahu, said that the marriage took place with the consent of all three and she treated Hemlata like a sister and served her completely. She herself took care of tea, breakfast, food, bathing and care. Now he is being asked to leave the house, so where should he go?
CSP Arun Soni said that the matter is being investigated on the basis of the complaint and legal action will be taken as per the facts. The police have started talking to the victim, her husband, another woman and the people of the village regarding the matter.
