Now a new and sharp statement has come to light in the ongoing controversy regarding the India-Pakistan match in the T20 World Cup 2026. Former ICC and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ehsan Mani has directly put India and ICC Chairman Jay Shah in the dock in this entire matter. Ehsan Mani has boasted and said that Jay Shah himself should go to Pakistan and convince the government there to withdraw the decision of boycotting the match against India. Not only this, he also said that Jai Shah should also listen to the complaints of Pakistan.
‘Jai Shah himself should go to Pakistan’
Speaking to Pakistani newspaper Dawn, Ehsan Mani said, ‘He should go to Pakistan, convince the government to end the boycott and also listen to the complaints of Pakistan. It would be better for the ICC Chairman to talk to the Pakistan government himself. This statement has come at a time when the ICC, broadcasters and host countries are expected to suffer a loss of crores of rupees due to the boycott of the India-Pakistan match.
The dispute started from Bangladesh, reached India
This whole controversy started when Bangladesh refused to come to India citing security reasons. Pakistan supported it, but the ICC rejected this argument and if confirmation was not received on time, Bangladesh was excluded from the tournament and Scotland was included. After this, PCB Chairman and Pakistani Minister Mohsin Naqvi called it unfair and then the Pakistan government gave instructions not to play the match against India.
Why is pressure being put on Jai Shah?
Ehsan Mani believes that ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khawaja is not the right person to resolve this dispute. He says that ICC Chairman Jay Shah should come forward in this matter, because Pakistan considers the role of India and BCCI as the reason for its decision.
Legal complications and allegations against India
Ehsan Mani admitted that Pakistan’s case may be legally weak, as the matches to be held in India had already been shifted to Sri Lanka under the hybrid model. He said, ‘Pakistan’s case has some weaknesses, but a competent legal team can present it effectively. The boycott of India-Pak match may be a violation of the Members’ Participation Agreement, but the negative attitude of BCCI is responsible for this, which forced Pakistan to take such a big decision.
