Baramati. After the plane crash in Baramati, the government has come into action mode. A comprehensive investigation has been started regarding more than 400 uncontrolled airstrips across the country. The government aims to create unified rules for these airstrips, which will be jointly monitored by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and state governments. During the investigation, the infrastructure, communication facilities, fire fighting arrangements and security preparedness of the airstrips will be assessed. It will also be seen what kind of coordination the airstrip managers maintain with the local administration. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar died in the plane crash in Baramati on January 28. After this accident, DGCA has started the process of tightening the safety protocols at airports and airstrips across the country. These uncontrolled airstrips generally do not have air traffic control facilities. These airstrips are either under state governments or operated by flight training institutes and private operators. More than 400 such airstrips present in the country are currently out of the direct regulation of DGCA. They are mainly used by charter planes, political parties and flying schools. However, there is a severe lack of basic facilities in these areas.
