A big and inspiring news has come out regarding IIT Kanpur Donation. The alumni of the year 2000 batch of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur have announced a donation of Rs 100 crore to the institute during its silver jubilee reunion. This donation is not only special in the history of the institute, but is also considered to be the largest contribution ever made by a single batch.

IIT Kanpur receives crores of rupees of support from alumni every year, which is used to promote education, research and innovation. If we talk about last year, the institute had received a total donation of Rs 265.24 crore through various alumni meets. However, this time the special thing is that this entire amount has been given only by the students of the year 2000 batch.

This amount received from IIT Kanpur Donation will be used to establish the ‘Millennium School of Technology and Society’ (MSTAS). The biggest contribution to this donation is from Naveen Tiwari, founder of InMobi and Glance. Director of the institute Prof. Manindra Aggarwal said that this donation is a symbol of the strong and unbreakable relationship between the alumni and IIT Kanpur. This will strengthen the educational and research ecosystem and open up new opportunities for development.

It is noteworthy that apart from IIT Kanpur, other educational institutions are also getting full support from the alumni. IIT BHU has received donations of more than Rs 100 crore in the last five years, from which projects like libraries and research centers are being developed. At the same time, a state-of-the-art Student Activity Center is being constructed in MNNIT with the help of alumni.

If the students coming out of the country’s premier institutes continue to support their alma mater, then initiatives like IIT Kanpur Donation can play an important role in further strengthening the Indian education system.
