Gus Atkinson was part of the England team in the Boxing Day Test played in Melbourne. England won that Test match which ended in 2 days, in which Gus Atkinson took 2 wickets in the first innings and 1 wicket in the second innings. After the same test, a scan of Gus Atkinson’s left hamstring was done, in which the injury was revealed. Gus Atkinson’s injury will be further examined upon his return home. For now, he has been kept out of the last Test to be held in Sydney.

England’s problems increased due to Atkinson’s exclusion

This was Gus Atkinson’s first Ashes series, in which he took 6 wickets at an average of 47.33. With Atkinson out, the problem of pace attack facing England has deepened a bit. The entire responsibility of pace attack in the last test will now be on the shoulders of Josh Tongue and Brayden Carse.
