CBSE 12th Physics Exam 2026: The board has made it clear that the right strategy and understanding of the pattern before the exam will help students score better. According to the new changes, instead of rote learning, more emphasis has been given on concepts and case studies. There will be a total of 33 questions in the Physics paper in the 2026 exam and all are compulsory. The board has divided the question paper into 5 different sections (A to E).

What will be the pattern of the question paper?
In the 2026 exam, the Physics paper is divided into 5 different sections (A to E). Section A will have 16 questions including 12 MCQs and 4 Assertion-Reasoning and each question will be of 1 mark, while Section B will have 5 very short answer type questions of 2 marks each. Section C consists of 7 short answer questions of 3 marks each and Section D will exclusively focus on case studies consisting of 2 questions of 4 marks each.

The question paper will conclude with Section E which will have 3 long answer questions of the largest i.e. 5 marks each and the board has clarified that options will also be given in all these sections so that students can write answers as per their choice. CBSE has also released the marking scheme along with the sample paper of the new paper. This will help students to understand the changes.
