Bhubaneswar. Cold is likely to increase after Christmas in Odisha. The Bhubaneswar-based Meteorological Center has predicted the beginning of a new phase of cold in the state from December 25. The cold wave may become more intense due to the strong flow of dry and cold north-westerly winds in the area. The reason for the drop in temperature has also been said to be the end of the effect of western disturbance, which may further reduce the night temperature in the state.
At present, there is dense fog with severe cold in many parts of Odisha. The Meteorological Department has warned that due to the increasing flow of moisture-laden winds at lower atmospheric levels, the intensity of fog may increase further in the coming days, which is likely to affect visibility in many areas. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature in some areas of Odisha has reached record low levels several times this season.
Meteorologists say that the sharp temperature drop seen in the beginning of December was in line with the predictions made earlier and a similar trend may be seen again after December 25. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, a sharp drop of up to seven degrees Celsius in temperature may be recorded in some areas during this period.
