Complaint based on social media video
According to the complaint, after India’s victory, many videos of players’ celebration have gone viral on social media. In these videos, Pandya can be seen running and dancing on the field with the tricolor draped over his shoulder. The lawyer alleges that in a video during the celebration, Pandya is seen lying on the stage with his girlfriend, while at that time also the tricolor was draped over his shoulder. The complainant says that such behavior is against the respect of the national flag.

Wajid Khan Bidkar said that it is the responsibility of every citizen to maintain the dignity of the national flag of India and there is a law for this. He told that he has filed a complaint in this matter citing the law related to the national flag. He told news agency ANI, ‘You must have seen the T20 World Cup. Hardik Pandya was dancing with his girlfriend while celebrating his victory. The national flag was tied behind him. According to Section 2 of the National Flag Act of 1971, we should respect the dignity of the national flag. But Hardik Pandya was so lost in the celebration of victory that he was lying with his girlfriend and even at that time the national flag was on his body. I think this is an insult to the national flag.
Procedure for filing complaint
The lawyer said that initially the police said that the incident happened in Ahmedabad, hence a complaint should be lodged there. However, he argued that the national flag is a symbol of the entire country and the issue related to its dignity can be raised anywhere. He said, ‘I have lodged a complaint at Shivaji Nagar police station. When I went to complain, they said that the incident did not happen here. Then I said that the national flag is the symbol of the entire country, so complaint can be made here also. He accepted my complaint and also gave me its copy. Now let’s see what happens next.
