MP News: Mohan government has big expectations from the Union Budget 2026. The government wants the Center to give it a jumbo budget of Rs 20 thousand crore for Simhastha. So the withheld amount of central projects should also be received. Special attention should be given to Madhya Pradesh in new projects and the GSDP of Madhya Pradesh decided by the 15th Finance Commission should be accepted.
Simhastha of 2028 is a big event for the state, the state government is putting all its efforts into it but a huge amount is required for infrastructure related works. On the other hand, according to the increasing population of Madhya Pradesh, the needs have increased and the burden of schemes is also increasing. A large amount of money is required to maintain the balance of all these. At the same time, the schemes are also being affected due to the halt in the committed budget in the earlier schemes from the Centre.
This is why MP expects from the general budget
- The 15th Finance Commission has recognized the GSDP of Madhya Pradesh as Rs 16,94,477 crore, but the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of the state is still considered by the Center as only Rs 15,44,141 crore. Due to this, Madhya Pradesh is not able to increase the loan limit. If the Center accepts this new GSDP in the general budget, then the scope of calculations for taking loan for Madhya Pradesh will increase.
- Simhastha is to be held in Ujjain in the year 2028. The government is making efforts to make it grand. Works worth more than Rs 8 thousand crore have been started. Work remains to be done at many levels. The government estimates that these works will cost around Rs 20 thousand crores. There should be a provision for this in the general budget. (Simhastha 2028 Package)
- For Jal Jeevan Mission, the Centre’s share of Rs 4370 crore for the year 2024-25 and Rs 3750 crore for the year 2025-26 and a total amount of Rs 8120 crore has been withheld, due to which work is not being done at the field level. The Center has set many conditions to complete these works.
- To give more impetus to capital works, the budget provision under the capital plan should be increased in the general budget of the legislative year 2026-27.
- The Viability Gap Funding Scheme of the Department of Economic Affairs should be simplified for PPP model projects. In this, special encouragement should be given to skill development, green and climate friendly projects.
- Keeping in view the needs of the state, the central schemes should be given the freedom to make partial changes while maintaining their original form.
- In the insurance schemes of the Centre, there should be a provision in the Jan Suraksha Portal to prevent registration of the same beneficiary in a particular insurance protection scheme from more than one bank account and payment of premium.
- The ongoing central approval in SNA Sparsh system should be continued in the coming financial year also. The incentive amount for the schemes onboarded on this system should be released soon.
