There is a report that the annual salary of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli may be cut in the coming days. He may get Rs 2 crore less than before. The annual general meeting of BCCI Apex Council is to be held on 22nd December, in which the contracts of these star players of Indian cricket and the contracts of women cricketers in domestic cricket are to be amended.
There can be discussion on the grades of Rohit-Virat
According to the report, the general meeting of BCCI’s Apex Council will be held online, in which discussions can be seen whether Rohit and Virat, who have retired from Test and T20, should be kept in A+ grade or they should be demoted to A grade.
Grade will change, salary will reduce
According to the news, there are chances of demotion in the grade of Rohit-Virat. This means that they can be shifted from A+ grade to A grade, which will also affect the annual salary they receive. Under the BCCI Central Contract, players in A+ grade get an annual salary of Rs 7 crore, which Rohit and Virat are currently getting. But, if he comes in A grade after the revision, then his salary will become Rs 5 crore, which is what players of this grade get.
Shubman Gill can get big benefit
According to the report, Shubman Gill may get promotion in grade. Gill is a part of Team India in all three formats and is currently in A grade under BCCI Central Contract. But there are chances that in the general meeting to be held on 22nd December, there may be amendment in increasing the grade. Meaning that they can be put from A grade to A+ grade.
Now if this happens then it is obvious that they will get huge benefits from it. His annual salary will again increase by Rs 2 crore. Shubman Gill, who was getting Rs 5 crore in A grade, will start getting Rs 7 crore annually as soon as he goes to A+ grade.
