Virat Kohli’s brother Vikas Kohli has once again slammed former cricketer and well-known commentator Sanjay Manjrekar for his recent comments. Manjrekar had recently said that it would have been better if Kohli had retired from every format. He had criticized Virat Kohli for giving preference to ODI over Test cricket. Manjrekar had said that instead of ‘working on his shortcomings’, Kohli retired from Tests and continued playing in the ‘easiest format’ ODI. Vikas Kohli has taken a dig at Manjrekar regarding this comment.

Virat Kohli in tremendous form

Virat Kohli has been performing consistently since the third and last ODI played in Sydney during the Australia tour last year. Since then, he has scored fifty plus in 6 out of 7 innings. These also include 3 centuries. In the third and last ODI of the series played against New Zealand in Indore, he scored an inning of 124 runs, although India could not win the match.

Then anyone would have scored runs… Bhajji rejected Manjrekar’s statement on Kohli

Taunted by calling him ‘Mr Expert of Cricket’

Seeing the tremendous performance of Virat Kohli, his brother Vikas Kohli wrote a post on social media site Thread taunting Sanjay Manjrekar. He wrote, ‘I wonder if Mr. Expert of Cricket has some suggestions for the easiest format of cricket. You need to be there to do that. Anyway, like I said it’s easier said than done.

‘It’s easy to say…’

Vikas Kohli had also reacted sharply to Sanjay Manjrekar’s comment a few days ago. He had said, ‘What an easy format, isn’t it… Someone had given his knowledge a few days ago… It is very easy to say, but not to do…’

What did Manjrekar say?

Sanjay Manjrekar had said in an Instagram video that Virat Kohli ran away from the Test instead of working on his shortcomings and problems. He also expressed disappointment over Kohli’s preference for ODIs over Tests.

Retirement from Test and preference for ODI; Sanjay Manjrekar gave a strict statement on Virat Kohli

Manjrekar had said, ‘As Joe Root is achieving new heights in Test cricket, my mind is going to Virat Kohli. He retired from Test cricket. It is unfortunate that in those 5 years of struggle before retirement, he did not try his best to find the problem as to why he was scoring at an average of 31 in Tests for 5 years. But it is sad to see that people like Joe Root and Steve Smith, Kane Williamson are making their name in Test cricket. He said, ‘It would have been better if Virat Kohli had stayed away from cricket itself, had stayed away from all types of cricket. But he chose to play ODI cricket, which disappoints me even more because this format is the easiest for a top order batsman, which I have said earlier.
