
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh’s New and Renewable Energy Minister Rakesh Shukla said that “With the supply of eight and a half thousand MW of renewable energy, the state is at number 6 in the country. With this, the installed solar capacity has increased from 3159 MW to 5781 MW in 2023. This is an unprecedented increase of 82 percent. Similarly, Madhya Pradesh’s big achievement in decentralized renewable energy in the country is also that solar “Electricity rates have been received between Rs 2.40 to Rs 2.85 per unit.” Minister Shukla said, “It is our department which earns money for the government and does not spend that much.”

Presenting the 2-year details of his department, the Minister said, “So far, a total of 9508 MW capacity of renewable energy has been installed in the state. The rates of solar electricity have been received between Rs 2.40 to Rs 2.85 per unit, which is included in the lowest rates of decentralized renewable energy in the country. This will not only provide cheap electricity during the day, but will also strengthen the grid management.”
76 thousand houses illuminated by free electricity scheme
Minister Rakesh Shukla Said that, “Through the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, this scheme has been installed in 76 thousand houses with 292 MW. Along with this, the government is also working towards promoting solar cookers. The aim is to provide solar cookers to more and more families, so that along with the adoption of clean energy, the expenditure on fuel can also be reduced.”
MoU worth crores in Global Investors Summit
While presenting the details of the achievements of his department, Minister Shukla said that “Proposals worth Rs 5.72 lakh crore were received in the Madhya Pradesh Global Investors Summit. Out of this, MOUs were signed on proposals worth Rs 2.67 lakh crore. Work worth Rs 1.78 lakh crore is in progress. It is possible that this will create 1 lakh 85 thousand new employment opportunities.”
He further said that “Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Yojana, remarkable progress has been made in the field of renewable energy in Madhya Pradesh. Under the scheme, the state has so far received about 550 proposals with a capacity of about 14,500 MW, out of which work has started on about 4,500 MW projects.”
440 MW solar power plant in Morena
Minister Rakesh Shukla informed that “440 MW capacity solar power project has been approved in Morena, which includes 4 hours of energy storage. This project is being set up at a historical rate of Rs 2.70 per unit, which is considered to be the lowest rate ever in the country. This will also be the first energy storage project in Madhya Pradesh.”
He said, “Morena Solar Power Project is also expected to give impetus to the economic and social development of the area. Employment opportunities will increase at the local level and infrastructure facilities will be strengthened.”
