New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a one-day visit to Assam, inaugurated the Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) in Moran on Saturday. The Prime Minister was welcomed by Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya and Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma at Chabuwa airfield. Prime Minister Modi created history by landing at the Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) built on Moran Bypass in Dibrugarh, Assam.

This is the first such emergency landing strip in Northeast India. This emergency landing facility, prepared at a cost of about Rs 100 crore, has been developed for the Indian Air Force. 19 more emergency landing strips are to be prepared in different states on the National Highway. These include 3 in Rajasthan, 3 in West Bengal, 1 in Tamil Nadu, 2 in Andhra Pradesh, 2 in Gujarat, 1 in Haryana, 1 in Punjab, 1 in Jammu and Kashmir and 5 in Assam.

Plane landed on highway
The PM first reached Chabua airfield, from where Moran had reached in a C-130. ELF has been built on a 4.4 km long stretch of Moran Airstrip NH-127. This is India’s first Emergency Landing Facility (ELF). Its launch will help military and civil aircraft in landing. The plane in which Prime Minister Modi was sitting today has also been landed on the same highway.

The Prime Minister addressed a public meeting in Guwahati. During this, the Prime Minister praised the hard work of BJP workers and also launched a barrage of attacks on Congress. The Prime Minister alleged that the state yearned for development during the Congress rule. Congress discriminated against Assam. Today India enters the houses of its enemies and kills them. At the same time, Congress shoulders the terrorists.

Giving full credit for the achievements of the party to the workers working at the grassroots level, the Prime Minister said that the height at which the Bharatiya Janata Party is at today has been possible only because of those dedicated workers. PM Modi laid special emphasis on the role of the organization and said that BJP has full faith in the organization. The power of organization is the strongest foundation of change in national life. He said that it is a matter of good fortune for him to meet the workers associated at such a large level, which is an indication of the strength of the party.

Prime Minister Modi said that in the last 11 years, the Central Government has allocated an amount of more than Rs 5.5 lakh crore for various development projects in Assam. Taking aim at the Congress party, he said that Congress is the party which hesitates even in giving money for the development of Assam, in such a situation can they develop Assam? This year’s budget has especially focused on strengthening the connectivity of North-East India. With increased connectivity, employment opportunities will also increase. Therefore, thousands of crores of rupees have been allocated for roads and highway projects in Assam.

The entire program was like this
In this program, first a Rafale and a Sukhoi-30 landed on the air strip. After this, the Air Force’s Dornier aircraft took off from the same strip. Later C-130J landed. Simultaneously, Sukhoi and Rafale were taken off sequentially. Three Sukhoi fighter planes fly-past in front of the stage and conducted a touch and go drill. After this, three Rafales also executed a similar formation drill.

What is the importance of emergency landing facility?
In view of the challenges of a possible two-front war in the future, the Indian Air Force is strengthening its preparations. Emergency landing facilities are being prepared on highways in different parts of the country, so that fighter and transport aircraft can use alternative runways if needed. This project has been completed with the joint efforts of the Central Government, Ministry of Road Transport and Indian Air Force. This program being organized today will not only give the message of strategic strength in the North-East, but will also showcase India’s intensifying military preparedness.
