New Delhi. Drivers of app-based cab services Ola, Uber and Rapido have announced a nationwide strike on 7 February 2026. This strike has been named All India Breakdown. The drivers union has demanded immediate action from the government, as they say that the companies are continuously making profits, while the drivers are being exploited.

According to the union, fares in platform services like Ola, Uber, Rapido and Porter are fixed unilaterally, making drivers’ income insecure, unstable and unaffordable.

Citing the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines 2005, the union has demanded:
Regulatory monitoring of platforms
fare transparency
Livelihood and safety of drivers
Central and state governments should fix the minimum fare for app-based services, and driver unions should be consulted before setting it.

The drivers’ strike comes at a time when Home Minister Amit Shah has launched Bharat Taxi service. This government service will work with facilities like Ola and Uber and will provide many types of facilities to the drivers. At present it was implemented in the trial phase, but now it is being implemented nationwide.
