
New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has remembered India’s cultural unbreakability and the story of struggle on the occasion of the starting Somnath Swabhiman festival. He said that this occasion of one thousand years of unwavering faith inspires us to continuously strive for the unity of the nation. Prime Minister Modi wrote on Twitter on Thursday, Somnath Swabhiman festival is starting from today. A thousand years ago, in January 1026, the Somnath temple faced the first attack in its history. The invasion of the year 1026 and the many attacks that followed could not shake our eternal faith, rather they further strengthened the feeling of cultural unity of India and Somnath kept getting revitalized again and again. On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi shared some pictures of his previous visits to Somnath. He also appealed to the countrymen that if they have also visited Somnath, then they must share their photos with the hashtag Somnath Swabhiman Parv.
He wrote, this occasion of Somnath Swabhiman festival is a festival to remember those innumerable sons of Mother India who never compromised with their principles and values. No matter how difficult and frightening the times were, his resolve always remained steadfast. His loyalty towards our civilization and cultural consciousness remained unwavering.
Prime Minister Modi shared some glimpses of the program organized at Somnath on 31 October 2001. He told that it was the year there, when 50 years of the inauguration of the renovated Somnath temple in 1951 was celebrated. He wrote, in 1951, the historic ceremony was held there in the presence of the then President Rajendra Prasad. The efforts of Sardar Patel and KM Munshi ji as well as many great personalities in the reconstruction of Somnath temple have been remarkable.
