
Bengaluru: There is great news for passengers traveling between Karnataka and Maharashtra. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has announced to run a new premium train between Bengaluru and Pune during a press conference in Bengaluru on Saturday. This decision has been taken in view of the long standing demand of the state representatives and the general public.
Big gift for coastal Karnataka
Apart from Pune, the Railway Minister also announced the early launch of the much-awaited Vande Bharat Express on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru-Karwar route for the residents of Coastal Karnataka. Railway Minister said- “Electrification work has been completed between Mangaluru and Hassan. As soon as the safety check and test run is successful, we will release the timetable of Bengaluru-Karwar Vande Bharat.” He said that Railways is considering running two Vande Bharat trains on the Bengaluru-Karwar route. One will start from Bengaluru and the other from Karwar. He further said, “With this train we will cover the entire coastal region of Karnataka.”
Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project
He said that during the BJP rule, more than Rs 52,950 crore is being invested in Karnataka for construction of railway tracks, rejuvenation of stations and security measures. Currently 61 stations in Karnataka are being redeveloped, out of which work on nine has already been completed. He said that “Rs 2,110 crore is being spent on the reconstruction of stations.”
