Three-time champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) may face a setback before IPL 2026. According to media reports, the team’s fast bowler Harshit Rana has not been fit yet, due to which it is doubtful that he will play in the tournament. It is also being told that Harshit is out of IPL, but till now no official statement has come from the franchise regarding this.
Harshit could not even participate in the T20 World Cup
Harshit suffered the injury during the practice match against South Africa in the T20 World Cup. He bowled one over in that match, but due to pain he had to leave the field. After this, Harshit was out of the T20 World Cup and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) included Mohammad Siraj in his place in the team. Harshit has suffered a knee injury and needs rehabilitation to recover completely from it. Harshit is an important member of the KKR team. He took 19 wickets in 2024, which was the most by an uncapped bowler that season. Harshit played an important role in helping the team win the title that season. After this, Harshit took 15 wickets in the last IPL season. If Harshit is not fit before the IPL, KKR may suffer a setback. The upcoming season of IPL 2026 starts from March 28 and KKR will start their campaign on March 29 against Mumbai Indians.
KKR signed agreement with Blessing Muzarabani
KKR has signed a deal with Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani. KKR had confirmed Muzarabani’s inclusion in the team on Friday. Due to playing in IPL, Muzarabani will not be able to play for Islamabad United in Pakistan Super League (PSL). Muzarabani was the leading wicket-taker for Zimbabwe in the recently concluded T20 World Cup. He took 13 wickets in six matches. 29-year-old Muzarabani joined Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) last year as a replacement for injured Lungi Ngidi, but he did not get a chance to play even in a match. It is believed that Muzarabani will reach Kolkata on March 17.
