New Delhi. The Supreme Court on Monday refused to hear a petition seeking intervention in the cancellation of thousands of IndiGo flights. The bench of CJI Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice Vipul M Pamcholi asked the petitioner to approach the Delhi High Court.
The court said that all the issues are pending before the Delhi High Court. They are also constitutional courts. If your complaint is not resolved there, then you are welcome here. IndiGo’s lawyer Mukul Rohatgi said that DGCA has formed an expert committee to investigate the flight cancellations and problems faced by passengers.
Due to changes in aviation rules by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), there was a huge shortage of crew members in IndiGo in the first week of December. Due to this, more than 5000 Indigo flights were canceled between December 1 and 10. Indigo has decided to completely hand over the internal investigation of the matter to international experts. CEO Peter Elbers appeared before the DGCA committee. Not only this, the company had already handed over the responsibility of independent investigation to world famous aviation expert Captain John Ilson. The move signals that the airline is under pressure to conduct an in-depth review of its operational model and management processes. Ilson has led top global institutions for four decades. The appointment has been made on the recommendation of the Crisis Management Group of the IndiGo board.
