Kabul. The border tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan has now turned into a serious military confrontation. The Defense Ministry of the Taliban, which is in power in Afghanistan, has made a sensational claim saying that its Air Force has carried out successful air strikes on many important military bases of Pakistan. According to the Taliban, this action is a befitting reply to the recent air strikes carried out by the Pakistani army in Afghan territory.
According to the official statement issued by the Defense Ministry, the Afghan Air Force went deep inside Pakistan and targeted the Noor Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, the headquarters of the 12th Corps in Quetta, Mohammad Agency area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Ghalani military bases. The Taliban claims that precise and coordinated attacks have been carried out on these targets, causing massive damage to Pakistani military infrastructure. This retaliation comes after the attacks in which Pakistani jets bombed several areas of Afghanistan including Kabul and the strategically important Bagram airbase last night. Local citizens in Kabul heard loud explosions, after which Taliban forces retaliated using anti-aircraft and missile defense systems. The Taliban government says that on Sunday morning, Pakistani jets again violated Afghan airspace and tried to target the Bagram airbase, which was foiled. It is noteworthy that Bagram is the same former American military base, which is considered very sensitive from strategic point of view.
This military confrontation between the two countries has now entered the fourth consecutive day. Taliban has given a clear warning that if Pakistan violates their airspace again or takes any kind of aggressive action, then an even stronger response will be given. At present, there has been no official military response from Pakistan on these claims of Taliban, but this development has created a war-like situation in the entire region. The international community is concerned about this increasing tension, because such a direct air conflict between two neighboring countries can become a major threat to regional stability.
