
Mumbai Security agencies came on high alert in Maharashtra’s capital Mumbai on Thursday after receiving bomb threats against several important institutions. Threatening emails were sent to several prominent places including Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan, Bombay Stock Exchange, Bombay High Court and Mumbai Metro. As soon as these emails came to light, the administration and police immediately tightened security arrangements.
According to Mumbai Police, first of all on Thursday morning, Bombay Stock Exchange, Vidhan Bhavan and Bombay High Court received threatening emails. The email claimed that a bomb had been planted in the Vidhan Bhavan complex. After this, the entire assembly complex was evacuated as a precautionary measure. The employees, officers and journalists present there were immediately thrown out. As soon as information about the incident was received, bomb disposal squad and dog squad were called to the spot. Security teams started intensive search operation in the entire campus. Officials said that no bomb or suspected explosive material has been recovered from any location so far, but the search operation will continue until complete satisfaction. Meanwhile, a spokesperson of Bombay Stock Exchange also confirmed receiving threatening emails. He said that all necessary steps are being taken keeping security in mind and constant coordination is being done with the concerned security agencies. It is reported that later Mumbai Metro and some banks also received similar threatening emails. At present, there has been no confirmation of any suspicious object being found anywhere.
