New Delhi. Republic Day 2026 is going to be special for India in every way. Be it in terms of diplomacy or economic relations at the global level. This time the top leadership of the European Union has been invited as the Chief Guest on Republic Day 2026. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa will attend the ceremony. It is believed that when these two top leaders come to India, there is a possibility of India-EU trade agreement and summit being organized, where the focus will be on discussions and possible agreement between the two sides regarding the free trade agreement.
India and the European Union have been discussing FTA for a long time. This agreement on subjects like business, investment, technology and supply chain is considered very important strategically for both the parties. Now the presence of two top leaders of the European Union on Republic Day clearly indicates that the European Union wants to take relations with India not just to the diplomatic level but to a new level of economic partnership.
