India won the T20 World Cup for the third time. Many things were being said before the final against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Fans on social media were also remembering the defeat in the 2023 final on the same ground. However, Team India left all the bad memories behind and won in Ahmedabad and wrote a new and happy story of victory. However, it has now been revealed that Team India was also distracted by the bad memories of Ahmedabad. In this episode, the Indian team also changed the hotel. Now its entire story has been revealed by Captain Suryakumar Yadav. Suryakumar revealed while talking to ‘The Indian Express’ that on someone’s suggestion the team had changed its hotel, so that no stone was left unturned in its efforts to win.
What is the whole matter?
In fact, on March 6, it was revealed that the Indian team has changed its hotel in Ahmedabad. The reason behind this was not revealed then. However, it was said that India had lost two big matches during the same hotel where the team was staying earlier. These include the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup and the Super Eight match against South Africa this year. For this reason the team management decided to change the hotel before the final. T20 World Cup-winning captain Suryakumar also revealed a similar superstition that helped India win the high-pressure semi-final against England and ultimately played a role in the team’s World Cup title.
To avoid the ill effects of lunar eclipse, the training session was started late.
There is no doubt that the Indian players tried their best to perform brilliantly. But along with this there was also a ‘good luck’ factor, which seemed to be working in favor of Suryakumar Yadav and his team. A member associated with the team had also told that wherever the team went to play the match, blessings of God were also taken there. To avoid the ill effects of the lunar eclipse in Mumbai before the semi-finals, the Indian team started its training session about an hour late. It is believed that work done during the lunar eclipse is considered inauspicious. Confirming this to Indian Express, a source had said, ‘The team came to know that there is a lunar eclipse, hence one should avoid doing any auspicious work during this time. Since India had to play the semi-finals against England, the team wanted to start on a positive note. Many people believed that the practice time should be after 6:40 pm. The team management also agreed to this and the practice session was postponed for an hour.
Why was the hotel changed?
Now captain Suryakumar Yadav has revealed that the team had taken the decision to change the hotel so that no possibility is left unfulfilled. On changing the hotel, Suryakumar said that this decision was taken even before the semi-final match. He told The Indian Express, ‘We were going to Wankhede for the semi-finals, when someone on the flight suggested that we should try changing the hotel. Many teams have done this. We did not want to leave any chance to get closer to our goal. If any team from there has won, then why don’t we also try. It is not yet known whether the Indian team had changed the hotel in Mumbai before the semi-finals or not, but from Suryakumar’s words it seems that Team India had done the same in Mumbai also. Well, after this, Team India won a close victory against England in the semi-finals at Wankhede and then also won the final in Ahmedabad and became the world champion.
Suryakumar said on Narendra Modi Stadium
Suryakumar Yadav also spoke openly on the so-called ‘jinxes’ related to playing at the prestigious Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He said, ‘People were saying that India does not win in Ahmedabad, especially after the 2023 final. But now look what happened. We have won in the same stadium. Now we know that there is no problem in the stadium.
The old relationship between sports and superstition
The relationship between sports and superstition is very old. Many cricketers have been relying on some kind of superstition or special routine for a long time. The great batsman Sachin Tendulkar always used to wear his left pad first before the match and sometimes even avoided watching the match on important occasions. Whereas former captain Kapil Dev often used to enter the field wearing a chain with Lord Shiva’s locket. Similarly, it is also said about Australia’s star batsman Steve Smith that if he does not bat in the first innings of a Test match, he does not sleep properly. There are many instances when players have relied on a superstition or a specific routine that helps them remain mentally comfortable and focused.
