New Delhi. In view of the tremendous response from passengers to the country’s first semi-high speed sleeper train Vande Bharat, Indian Railways has taken a big decision. This train running between Guwahati and Howrah has become increasingly popular among the passengers. So that more and more people can get confirmed tickets in the train, preparations are being made to increase the number of coaches in Vande Bharat Sleeper. With a maximum speed of 160 km per hour and advanced technology, this Vande Bharat Sleeper is considered to be the most special train ever. According to Railway Ministry sources, within just 10 days of the launch of Sleeper Vande Bharat, Railways has decided to increase its capacity. At present this train is running with 16 coaches, but in future it has been planned to run with 24 coaches. That means Vande Bharat Sleeper is now going to be a longer and more capacity train than before.
This will be the first time that 24 coaches will be installed in a Vande Bharat class train. With the increase in the number of coaches, the number of passengers will also increase significantly. At present, a total of 823 berths including all categories are available in 16 coach Vande Bharat Sleeper. At the same time, the number of berths in a train with 24 coaches will increase to 1,224. Its direct benefit will be that more passengers will be able to travel by this modern and comfortable train and the chances of getting the ticket confirmed will also increase. According to the Railways, the 24-coach Vande Bharat sleeper train will be manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. Due to the occupancy rate of the recently started Vande Bharat Sleeper being more than 100 percent, Railways has started working rapidly on the plan of higher capacity train.
It is being told that there will be more number of third AC coaches in this train, so that common passengers can also get its benefit. Indian Railways is working on the design of 24-coach Vande Bharat sleeper and is expected to have its first prototype ready by the end of 2026. This train will include 17 AC three-tier coaches, 5 AC two-tier coaches, 1 AC first class coach and 1 AC pantry car. Talking about the facilities, it will have comfortable berth, reading light, mobile and laptop charging point, Wi-Fi based information and entertainment system, vacuum toilet, more luggage space and modern interior. Besides, special toilet and ramp facilities will also be provided for disabled passengers.
