In 2025, 12.75 percent of recruited personnel across all ranks were women. The number of women in 2026 is proposed to be around 8-9 percent of the total recruitment. To address grievances relating to stagnation in promotions primarily due to the nature of deployment of the force, CISF has introduced the system of Senior Constable and Local Rank for the posts of Constable and Assistant Sub-Inspector respectively. Due to this, 32545 constables have been designated as senior constables. 1050 Assistant Sub-Inspectors have been granted the local rank of Sub-Inspector. This initiative is expected to significantly boost the morale of the force and increase motivation among the personnel. CISF has the highest number of women among all the central forces. At present the number of women in the force is more than 8 per cent of its total strength.
