According to sources, a petition in the matter was first filed in the Supreme Court, from where it was sent back saying that the case will be heard by the single bench of the High Court only. After this, the matter also reached the Division Bench (DB) of the High Court, but there too the petition was dismissed and it was made clear that the case would be heard in a single bench only. It is being told that the distilleries and their owners who filed the petition ultimately had to back down. Sources also claim that information about many facts related to this case was also sent to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) and the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court. It is being told that the petition was filed in both the Supreme Court and the High Court on the same day on March 9. Meanwhile, the Excise Commissioner has extended the date of country liquor supply tender worth billions of rupees in 55 districts of Madhya Pradesh, due to which the hustle and bustle in the liquor business has intensified.

Two judges recusing from the case is historic

During the hearing in the High Court, two judges recused themselves from hearing the case, while the third judge refused to grant any interim relief to the petitioner. The court has directed the state government to submit its reply within two weeks, out of which about a week has passed.
