New Delhi: In the case of a sensational murder that took place during the Kabaddi tournament in Sohana village of Mohali, Punjab, the police has killed the main handler in an encounter. During this tournament organized by Gurudwara Management Committee and Vaidwan Sports Club, 30-year-old Kabaddi player and promoter Kanwar Digvijay alias Rana Balachauria was shot dead.
After this murder, Mohali Police and Anti Gangster Task Force team had intensified the search for the accused. Meanwhile, an encounter took place between the police and the accused in the ruins near Laldu Highway. During this, the police team killed Harjinder alias Middu, resident of Naushehra Pannuan of Tarn Taran district in a police encounter. During this time, two policemen were also injured by bullets.
SSP Mohali Harmandeep Singh Hans said that the injured policemen have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. He told about this operation that the accused had first fired at the police team with Jigana pistol, in response to which the police also fired, in which he got injured. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.
According to the police, Harjinder was the main planner and handler of this massacre at the ground level. He was present at the spot at the time of the incident. Police investigation has revealed that after the murder the accused had fled on a bike. Leaving the bike at some distance, they fled in a car. During the police investigation, the mastermind of this case has been arrested from Delhi.
Along with this, the police has arrested the accused Aishdeep Singh in this case from Delhi Airport. According to the police, Ashdeep had come to India from Moscow to plot this massacre and was planning to return to Muscat at the time of his arrest. It was on the basis of Aishdeep’s revelations that the police reached Harjinder. Ashdeep was in contact with gangster Donny Bal abroad.
It is being told that Doni Bal and Lucky Patial gang are behind this murder. According to the police, this gang wanted to establish its dominance over Kabaddi tournaments. The gang suspected that Rana Balachauria was close to jailed gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and on the basis of this suspicion he was targeted.
Police have identified the shooters as Aditya Kapoor alias Makhan and Karan Pathak alias Defaulter Karan. Both the accused are said to be residents of Amritsar and their connection is being linked to Doni Bal gang. There are already 13 criminal cases registered against Aditya Kapoor, while two cases are said to be registered against Karan Pathak.
Police say that this attack was completely targeted. Its purpose was only to kill Rana Balachauria. The investigating agencies have clearly denied any connection of this case with the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala. According to the police, Rana Balachauria had no criminal record. He had no role in the Moosewala murder case.
The Rana Balachauria murder case has brought back memories of attacks on Kabaddi players in Punjab. Earlier, Kabaddi player Sandeep Nangal was murdered during a tournament in Mallian Kalan village of Jalandhar. In October this year, 25-year-old Kabaddi player Teja Singh was also murdered in Jagraon. There is a lot of stir in political circles regarding the Mohali incident.
