Karnataka. BJP Karnataka president BY Vijayendra on Friday said the party’s core committee discussed possible candidates for the upcoming bypolls in Bagalkot and Davangere South assembly constituencies at its state core committee meeting. According to Vijayendra, the party’s Karnataka in-charge Radha Mohan Das Agarwal, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, leaders of opposition in the state Assembly and Legislative Council and other senior leaders were present in the meeting.

The final decision lies with the senior leadership of the party

Addressing reporters, Vijayendra said, “Discussions were held in the core committee meeting regarding candidates for the upcoming by-elections in Bagalkot and Davangere South assembly constituencies.” He said the aspirations of various leaders seeking party tickets in both the constituencies were discussed in detail and the names considered in the meeting. They will be sent to the senior leadership of the party for the final decision.

Urged leaders to keep differences aside

The Shikaripura MLA said the party has also resolved to work collectively to ensure victory in the upcoming elections. “With a view to ensuring the victory of our Legislative Council candidates and party nominees in the Bagalkot and Davanagere South Assembly by-elections, it has been decided that we all should work unitedly and put in our best efforts,” he said. Vijayendra said another meeting was held with senior leaders, including Joshi and MP Govind Karjol, with candidates from the Davangere South constituency, where the leaders were urged to keep aside differences. “We urged everyone to forget past differences, keep all issues aside and work unitedly to win the elections,” he said. On reports of dissatisfaction among some leaders over ticket allotment, Vijayendra said the party has already held internal discussions to address the concerns. “We have talked about this within the four walls. We called everyone together and discussed it. We have given the message that everyone should forget the past and work together in the interest of the party,” he said. Referring to the problems faced during the last Lok Sabha elections in Davangere, he expressed confidence that such a situation would not happen again. He further said, “To ensure that such a situation does not arise again, we called leaders from both sides together today and discussed. We are confident that everything will be resolved.”
