
India is going to formally join the US-led initiative ‘Pax Silica’ today. This initiative has been created to strengthen Artificial Intelligence (AI) and supply chain security. This announcement has been made during the ongoing Global AI Impact Summit 2026 in Delhi.

What is Pax Silica?
This is a major initiative of the US State Department. Its objective is to develop AI technology safely, make the supply chain of critical goods and resources reliable and increase economic security among the partner countries. The announcement of this initiative states that a strong supply chain is very important for economic security. AI will become the biggest force for future prosperity and development.
Which countries signed the declaration?
The countries that have signed this declaration include Australia, Japan, South Korea, Britain, UAE, Singapore, Israel, Qatar and Greece. Whereas countries like Canada, European Union, Netherlands and Taiwan have joined it as partners.
America-India cooperation will also increase
America’s Under Secretary for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg is on a visit to India from 20-21 February. They will participate in AI conference, strengthen India-US technology partnership and launch a new phase of AI export program.
Recently cooperation on mineral supply also
Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar recently participated in the important Mineral Ministerial meeting held in America. The supply of essential minerals is highly concentrated in a few countries – this is a risk to the world, he said. Countries will have to work together to secure the supply chain.
