
New Delhi. After JNU video went viral, Delhi-based Jawaharlal Nehru University has once again come into the center of controversy. In a video going viral on social media, some students are seen raising objectionable slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This video is said to be of about 35 seconds and as soon as it surfaced, sharp reactions have started from political circles as well as common people.
Slogans like “Modi-Shah’s grave will be dug on JNU soil” are reportedly heard in the viral video. Many people are expressing their displeasure over this sloganeering and are calling it against democratic norms. At the same time, some sections are linking it to freedom of expression, due to which the debate has deepened. However, the context and date of which the video is about has not been officially confirmed yet.
After the JNU Video Viral case came to light, questions have also started being raised on the role of the university administration and security agencies. At present, no formal statement has been issued by JNU administration or Delhi Police. But according to sources, investigation can be done regarding the authenticity of the video and the identity of the students involved in it.
It is noteworthy that Jawaharlal Nehru University has already been in the news at the national level regarding student politics, protests and sloganeering. In every such case, questions arise regarding the balance between freedom of expression and law and order.
