Who is Mangesh Yadav: In the mini auction of IPL 2026 held in Abu Dhabi, teams spent money lavishly on many players. 23 year old Mangesh Yadav from Madhya Pradesh became the special attraction in the mini auction. As soon as Mangesh’s name came up in the auction, there was a race between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad to buy him.

In the auction, Mangesh Yadav was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 5.20 crore. SRH also tried their best to buy this Indian bowler, but Hyderabad did not bid more than Rs 5 crore.

Who is Mangesh Yadav?
Mangesh Yadav was born on 10 October 2002 in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh. He is a left arm fast bowler in cricket. Besides, he is also known for his strong batting. Let us tell you that because of Mangesh being a left arm fast bowler, such a high bid was made on him. The surprising thing is that his base price was only Rs 30 lakh, but in the auction, RCB bought him for 17 times more than the base price.

Why was the bid so high?
The main reason for the high bid on Mangesh was his strong performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He has taken 3 wickets in this domestic T20 tournament and also scored 28 runs while batting in an innings. He got recognition from MP T20 League 2025, where he took 14 wickets. Besides, he was the bowler who took the most wickets in the entire tournament. Apart from this, his inning of 75 runs against Punjab in the Buchi-Babu tournament also attracted the attention of IPL teams.

The special thing is that Mangesh Yadav has expertise in swinging the ball on both sides and also throws accurate yorkers. He can be called a full package because along with bowling effectively in powerplay and death overs, he can also bat when needed. In modern T20, there is a demand for such players who are useful to the team when needed. Mangesh’s association with the defending champions will strengthen their lower middle order.
