
Kolkata. A mob attacked the police after arresting a Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker in Sandeshkhali area of North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Six policemen were injured in this attack.
According to the information, the team of Najat police station had gone to Boyermari village of Sandeshkhali block on Friday night to arrest TMC worker Musa Mollah. The officer said a group from the village attacked the policemen and also damaged the police vehicle.
The six injured policemen, including an officer, have been released after treatment at a local hospital. It is being told that when the police team was picking up Mollah from his house and taking him to the police vehicle, a group of villagers threw stones at the team, due to which he got injured.
An official said Mollah was arrested for forcibly taking over ponds for fish farming in the area. He was finally taken to the police station after additional police forces were sent and the crowd dispersed. Apart from him, two local TMC leaders, including the gram panchayat head, have also been detained on charges of instigating the mob, the official said.
