
Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav visited the Union Carbide Factory in Arif Nagar, Bhopal on Saturday. After this, the CM informed that the state government is planning to build a memorial here in the memory of those killed in the gas tragedy. During his visit, the CM also talked to officials of the Bhopal gas tragedy relief and rehabilitation department in this regard.
He said that after taking all sections of the society into confidence and on the suggestion of the High Court, a memorial will be built at this place. On the intervening night of 2nd and 3rd December 1984, highly poisonous methyl isocyanate gas leaked from the Union Carbide factory in Bhopal. At least 5,479 people were killed and thousands were maimed. It is counted among the world’s biggest industrial disasters.
Rahul should apologize
CM said that the then government left this area unclaimed and also did not show interest in removing the toxic waste present in the factory, as a result of which the scary incident left the factory haunted. At the same time, Congress had left people to die by expelling Warren Anderson, the main accused in the Bhopal gas tragedy. Rahul Gandhi should apologize to the country for this.
set an example for the world
CM said, ‘The state government stands with the gas victims at every step and will leave no stone unturned for their welfare. Following the guidelines of the court, our government has removed the toxic waste of Union Carbide present in the factory through modern scientific methods, which sets an example for the world. Mohan Yadav said that with Bhopal and Indore being made metropolitan cities, development work is being done at a rapid pace within the city as well.
