Trump Tariff: On India’s Russian oil imports, US President Donald J Trump said about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he basically wanted to make me happy. Prime Minister Modi is a very good person. He is a noble person. He knew I was not happy. Making me happy was important to him. They trade and we can raise tariffs on them very quickly.
According to news agency Reuters, US President Donald Trump said this in a public address. In which he gave a clear warning to India and said that we want India to stop purchasing oil from Russia. Trump said this warning by linking it to the ongoing trade talks between India and America. However, during this time he also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Gave warnings several times regarding Russian oil
Let us tell you, just a few months ago, Trump had said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had assured him that India would stop buying Russian oil. However, India completely rejected this claim and said that no such conversation took place between Trump and Modi. America has warned India several times regarding Russian oil.
Tariff has been increased by 50 percent
Earlier also, America had doubled the tariff on import of Indian goods to 50 percent as a punishment for huge purchases of Russian oil. Although both the countries are currently negotiating a trade deal, no final solution has been reached. Now it remains to be seen what action Trump takes after this warning.
