Adampur. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Halwara Airport Terminal Building tomorrow.

On the occasion of the 649th birth anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reach Adampur Airport at around 3:45 pm on his visit to Punjab on Sunday, where he will unveil the new name of the airport ‘Shri Guru Ravidas Ji Airport, Adampur’. He will also inaugurate the terminal building at Halwara Airport in Ludhiana, Punjab.
The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that the renaming of Adampur Airport on the auspicious occasion of the 649th birth anniversary of Saint Guru Ravidas Ji is a tribute to the saint and social reformer whose teachings of equality, compassion and human dignity continue to inspire the social values of India.

According to the PM Office, further boosting the aviation infrastructure in Punjab, the terminal building that Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate at Halwara Airport on Sunday will establish a new gateway for the state. With this, the needs of industrial and agricultural areas in and around Ludhiana will be met. Halwara, located in Ludhiana district, is also a strategically important Indian Air Force station. The earlier airport in Ludhiana had a short runway, meant for small-sized aircraft. A new civil enclave has been built at Halwara to improve connectivity and accommodate larger aircraft, with a long runway capable of handling A320-like aircraft.

In line with the Prime Minister’s vision of sustainable and environmentally responsible development, the terminal includes a number of green and energy-efficient features, including LED lighting, insulated roof, rain water harvesting system, sewage and water treatment plants and use of recycled water for landscaping, the statement said. The architectural design reflects the rich cultural heritage of Punjab, offering travelers a distinctive and regionally inspired travel experience.
