Sanju Samson played an important role in India winning the title by playing brilliant innings in the last three matches of T20 World Cup 2026, and was chosen as the ‘Player of the Tournament’. Expressing happiness over his son’s performance, father Samson Vishwanath said that Sanju was disturbed in the initial phase of his career.

What did Samson’s father say?

Sanju Samson’s father said, ‘I am very happy with my son’s performance. People disturbed my son. Troubled him a lot. Hopefully this won’t happen for a few days. Sanju Samson’s father was posted as a constable in Delhi Police, who himself was a football player. Sanju studied in Delhi and also took cricket coaching there, but when his son could not be selected in the Under-13 team despite excellent performance, the father took VRS. He moved to Kerala, where Sanju trained and shone at the junior level.

‘Will he be given a chance in the team?’

Samson Vishwanath told, ‘At the age of 18, I got a job in Delhi Police. I was a part of the Delhi Police football team from the age of 19 and remained there till the age of 42. My children grew up in Delhi only. Sanju Samson scored 500 runs in a single tour, but could not get a place in the team. It was said that Sanju is 10 years old. This tournament is for children of 13 years. If that was the case, then Messi was in the team at the age of 17, Sachin Tendulkar at the age of 15. You were not including Sanju in the team because of his young age. If similar great performance is not achieved next year, will he be given a chance in the team?

‘I have forgotten all the bad things’

He said, ‘When the child performs well, he should get his reward. When Sanju was not selected in the Delhi State team in Under-13, I decided to return back to Kerala. However, my wife raised questions about this, but I said that Sanju will not be able to play at the age of 17 the way he is performing at the age of 10. They will become like ordinary children. I was sure that if our son went to Kerala and performed brilliantly, the whole of Kerala would go crazy about him. I left the job. I have seen some people apologizing to Sanju. I have forgotten all the bad things. Everything is good for me now.

Kerala government will respect

After Samson’s memorable performance in the World Cup, the Pinarayi Vijayan led Kerala government has decided to give a grand welcome to Sanju Samson. State Education Minister V Sivankutty on Monday announced that the state government will honor this cricketer who led the Indian team to a spectacular victory in the T20 World Cup final. Minister Sivankutty said that the state wants to celebrate the success of Samson in this way. Samson is a matter of pride for Kerala. Samson’s success has inspired thousands of young cricketers across the state.
