The former captain, who led the Indian team to victory in three ICC tournaments, said, “Certainly age should not be a criterion. If you are 22 years old and are not fit then you are not eligible. If someone is 30 years old, we cannot decide whether they will play or not… It is for them to decide. If they are performing well and want to do well for the country then why not play. Then how will you get experienced people. You can play for 20 years. They cannot expect from a player, if he is not Sachin Tendulkar then…if someone is performing then he will be in the team…otherwise not.”
