The defending champion Indian team is one step away from reaching the final of the T20 World Cup for the second consecutive time. India will once again face the challenge of England in the semi-finals. Earlier, both the teams had faced semi-finals in 2022 and 2024. The biggest concern for India at the moment is Abhishek Sharma not being able to score runs. Despite not being in form, Abhishek has been getting consistent opportunities, but it will be interesting to see whether he will get a chance against England.

Dependence on one player will be heavy

The Indian team, which was considered a strong contender at the beginning of the tournament, could not perform well in even a single match against the strong teams in the competition. Even though it won all its matches in the group stage, the crushing defeat to South Africa in the Super Eights exposed its weaknesses. After this, however, the Indian team adopted a flexible approach due to which it was successful in reaching the semi-finals. Till now only one or two players are winning the matches for India, but if they want to cross the hurdle of semi-finals, then the team will have to perform as a unit. Rinku Singh has not got a chance in the playing-11 for India in the last two matches. Rinku had joined the team even after the death of his father, so it remains to be seen how Rinku can make a place in the playing-11.

What could be the batting order?

Abhishek may not be in form, but it seems unlikely that India will change the combination for this important match.
For India, once again Abhishek and Sanju Samson can start the innings and Ishan Kishan will come at the third position.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav is certain to be at number four. Suryakumar is also struggling to score runs and needs to play big innings in the semi-finals.
Tilak Verma and Hardik Pandya will try to perform well on their home ground in the IPL.
India will have to face the challenge of England’s spin bowlers in which both the teams will leave no stone unturned to prove their superiority over each other.

The decision to take Samson worked

Sanju Samson was again included in the playing-11 to eliminate the presence of the top three left-handed batsmen in the powerplay and his decision proved effective. More than 10 years after making his debut for India, Samson finally played his best innings for India. He left his mark on the big stage by playing an unbeaten inning of 97 runs against West Indies. It is impossible to predict when someone’s luck will shine in the game. Abhishek was in the best form of his career ahead of the World Cup, while Samson lost his place in the playing eleven due to disappointing performances in the bilateral matches against New Zealand. Now the circumstances have changed and Abhishek is in dire need of a brilliant innings that boosts confidence. This left-handed batsman scored a half-century against Zimbabwe in the Super Eight, but he is still far from his best form.

Will India take the risk of changing the winning combination?

Usually India does not make changes in the winning combination, but in this tournament Team India has made some changes. The team did not make any changes in the last match and was successful. This time also there is no possibility of change. If the players remain fit, India can go with the same eleven which played against West Indies. In such a situation, Rinku Singh and Kuldeep Yadav may have to sit out again.
