The T20 World Cup is going to start next month but at present the situation regarding the matches of Bangladesh is unclear. Bangladesh Cricket Board has requested ICC to move its matches out of India. He wants to play his matches in Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, there were some reports that ICC is considering shifting Bangladesh’s World Cup matches from Kolkata and Mumbai to Chennai and Trivandrum. On this, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has said that he has not received any information in this regard from ICC.
Madhya Pradesh needs 331 runs in 269 balls at an average of 7.38 per over.
Saikia told news agency IANS, ‘BCCI has not received any information regarding shifting of Bangladesh matches to Chennai or anywhere else and this is something beyond our control. This is an issue related to BCB and ICC because ICC is the governing body. If the ICC informs us about any decision regarding any change in the match venues, then as hosts we will take necessary steps. At present we do not have any such information. ‘T20 World Cup is going to start next month. Its matches will be played in India and Sri Lanka from 7 February to 8 March. According to the current schedule, Bangladesh has to play 3 matches in Kolkata and Mumbai. Its first match is against West Indies in Kolkata on 7 February. After that, Bangladesh has to play against Italy on 9 February and England on 14 February in Kolkata itself. Its match against Nepal is scheduled in Mumbai on 17th February. Bangladesh is showing tantrum over playing the World Cup matches in India because its player Mustafizur Rahman has been released by KKR from its squad. Rahman was bought by the IPL franchise for Rs 9.2 crore in the recent mini auction but things changed rapidly after the outrage in India over the increasing atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh. A section on social media was demanding the removal of Mustafizur from IPL. Some Hindu organizations had also demanded this. Ultimately, on the instructions of BCCI, KKR released Mustafizur Rahman from its IPL squad. After that, Bangladesh has demanded ICC to shift its World Cup matches out of India due to ‘security reasons’.
