
New Delhi . Delhi government launched ‘Atal Canteen’ scheme on the 101st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Under this scheme, a plate of food will be available for Rs 5 at 100 places in the city. Food will be provided to about 500 people in each canteen. Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said, Atal Canteen will become the soul of Delhi, it will be a place where no one has to sleep hungry.
CM took stock of Atal Canteen where food was being served and interacted with the people eating. During the conversation, people said that it is a big deal to get such tasty and nutritious food for Rs 5. This initiative of Delhi Government is no less than a lifesaver for the poor and labourers.
45 canteens inaugurated, 55 later
The objective of this scheme is to provide food with dignity to the poor, laborers and low income families. The government has started 45 Atal canteens in various areas of Delhi including RK Puram, Jangpura, Shalimar Bagh, Greater Kailash, Rajouri Garden, Narela, Bawana. The remaining 55 canteens will be inaugurated in the coming days. Two meals a day will be served in these canteens.
