There is no provision like ‘digital arrest’ in the law
Before 2017, there were only 2 cyber crime police stations in the state. Today cyber crime police stations are operational in all 75 districts. Besides, cyber help desks have been created in all the district police stations. Vigilance and awareness are the biggest weapons against cyber frauds. These criminals use false and misleading words like ‘digital arrest’ to intimidate innocent citizens and extort money from them. There is no provision like ‘digital arrest’ in any law of the country. Police or any other government agency does not arrest any person or demand money through video call, WhatsApp, or social media.
What to do in case of cyber crime?
One has to be careful about the use of social media also. Through the photos, videos or location you make public, criminals first collect information about you and use this information against you. Do not share your personal information or OTP with anyone. Even after being careful, if a cyber crime happens to you, then first report it on helpline number 1930. The sooner you inform the police, the greater the chances of rescue. Be aware and also make people around you aware, especially senior citizens. Let us all together build a safe and cyber crime-free Uttar Pradesh.
Have you written before also?
