Indian team’s star batsman Virat Kohli will be seen playing in the upcoming New Zealand ODI series. Kohli now plays only in one format. He has retired from T20 and Test. There was a lot of discussion about Virat Kohli’s retirement from Tests and many believed that considering Kohli’s fitness, he should have continued in the longest format of the game. Recently, former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar had expressed his views regarding Kohli’s Test retirement and now Robin Uthappa has also advised him to consider the decision of retiring from Tests.

Uthappa believes that the same old hunger and passion is still visible in Kohli’s eyes, which made him the king of Test cricket. Virat Kohli had announced his retirement from Test cricket in May 2025 after a poor performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Virat Kohli scored 9230 runs in 123 matches in Tests. During this period his average was 46.85 and he scored 30 centuries. But now Virat Kohli is seen playing only in ODI format. Last year, he scored 651 runs in 13 ODIs with the help of three centuries.

Sharing a picture of Kohli’s net practice, Uthappa wrote on Instagram, “There’s a story in those eyes… It’s definitely time to call off Test retirement. Would love to see him back in Test cricket.” This post of Robin Uthappa is becoming quite viral. Virat Kohli also recently participated in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he scored a century in one match, while he was the player of the match in another match.
