Jodhpur: The first organ donation (cadaveric donation) of the year 2026 took place in the city, when the family of 58-year-old laborer Annesingh of Pali district presented a unique example of humanity. After Anne Singh’s death, the family took the noble decision of organ donation. This gave new life to three seriously ill patients.

Executive Director of AIIMS Prof. Govardhan Dutt Puri told that Annesingh, a resident of Jojawar (Khokhara) of Pali, was brought to the emergency department of AIIMS Jodhpur on January 19 in an unconscious state. Neurological examination revealed absence of brainstem reflexes despite intensive medical management. After this the medical board declared him ‘brain dead’. In this hour of grief, the transplant coordination team conducted several counseling sessions with the family. After detailed discussion and emotional support, the family agreed to organ donation and made the bold choice of turning their grief into a life-saving gift for others. Dr. Puri told that this is the 11th organ donation in AIIMS. For this, the AIIMS management expressed gratitude towards Anne Singh’s family.

Kidney sent to Jaipur as green corridor: Annesingh’s kidney and liver were successfully transplanted to a patient at AIIMS Jodhpur, while one kidney was allotted to a patient at SMS Hospital, Jaipur. To send it to Jaipur, Jodhpur traffic police and administration created a green corridor.

11th cadaver organ donation of AIIMS: Dr. Puri said that this is the 11th successful cadaveric organ donation in AIIMS Jodhpur. This is a promising start to 2026, which further strengthens the institute’s resolve to provide organ donation awareness and advanced transplant services in Western Rajasthan. Generally this procedure is done under Ayushman Bharat, so that the financial burden on the patients is minimal. In this organ donation and transplantation, Dr. Vaibhav Varshney, Dr. Piyush Varshney, Dr. Lokesh Aggarwal in Gastroenterology and GI Surgery (Liver Team), Dr. AS Sandhu, Dr. Shivcharan Navriya in Urology (Kidney Team) were involved.
