Coimbatore. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that the Indian Army takes inspiration from Lord Shiva. Just as Lord Shiva is a symbol of both creation and destruction, the Indian Armed Forces are equally capable of both humanitarian aid and coercive action. He said that in times of crisis, the Army takes the form of Shiva’s compassion and helps the people and when necessary, takes decisive action like “Operation Sindoor” with the speed of Rudra.

The Defense Minister was addressing the Mahashivratri program organized by Isha Foundation on Sunday. On this occasion, he also honored some distinguished persons along with spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. In his address he said that Lord Shiva is the symbol of beginningless, infinite and truth. He said that whatever is true is Shiva. Linking the Velangiri hills to the sacred caves of Shiva, he described it as the ‘Kailash of the South’ and said that the land is full of spiritual energy.

The Defense Minister also mentioned India’s scientific achievements. He said that space missions like Chandrayaan-3 and Aditya-L1 are not just technological achievements, but they are a modern expression of India’s ancient scientific tradition. He said that just as India is sending satellites into space, in the same way it is also taking its scientific culture to new heights. Speaking on national security, Rajnath Singh said that security is not limited only to weapons, technology and physical strength of soldiers.

“True security comes from a strong national mindset. He said, a society based on fear cannot remain safe for long. Referring to the historical relations between Kashi and Tamil Nadu, he said that on one hand Kashi is counted among the most ancient cities of the world, on the other hand Tamil culture is also one of the oldest cultural traditions of the world. Referring to the richness of language, culture and cuisine, he said that it is a blessing for him to come to the holy land of Tamil Nadu. In the end he said, I am here not as a guest, but as a I have come as a seeker and a spiritual person.
