New Delhi. A sensational incident has come to light in the national capital Delhi. A man strangled his wife to death in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar area because she refused to pay Rs 20 for cigarettes. After this the husband committed suicide by jumping in front of the train. The accused has been identified as Kulwant, who lived with his wife and three children. Kulwant used to work as an auto-rickshaw driver in Delhi.

A PCR call under DD number 39 was received at Vivek Vihar police station on Wednesday (December 24). Satnam, a neighbor of the caller, told over the phone that his sister-in-law’s body was lying on the roof of the house. There are injury marks on the neck of the deceased. His brother Kulwant is absconding.

The police team immediately reached the spot. Went there and saw that the dead body of a woman was lying in slum number 54 of Kasturba Nagar. The name of the deceased woman was Mahendra Kaur. The 20-year-old son of the deceased woman, Shiv Charan, told the police that he had gone to buy cigarettes. There was a fight in the house over cigarette money. When he returned about 10 minutes later, his father asked him to bring medicine for his mother, saying she was ill.

Finding the situation suspicious, he tried to enter the room, but his father pushed him and fled from the spot. On entering the room he found his mother dead on the bed. The neck of the deceased mother was wrapped with a chunni.

Police have sent the body of the deceased to GTB Hospital after inspection by FSL and crime teams.
