Australian opener and dreaded batsman Travis Head’s focus is now on the T20 World Cup, which is going to start from next month. To prepare for that, he will not play in the Big Bash League. Head played a key role in Australia’s stunning 4–1 Ashes win against England. He was the highest run scorer in the series. Head scored 629 runs in 5 tests.
England Under-19 need 248 runs in 282 balls at an average of 5.27 per over.
Apart from Travis Head, Cameron Green will not be taking part in the Big Bash League. He played in 3 test matches against England. However, this all-rounder has not got the contract of Big Bash League, hence he is focusing on his fitness before the World Cup. He had a major back surgery at the end of 2024. Before the T20 World Cup, Australia would definitely not want some more of its players to get injured. Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, who are included in the World Cup squad, are already struggling with injury. Cummins is recovering from a back injury and Hazlewood is recovering from a hamstring injury. Cricket Australia’s general manager Ben Oliver told news agency Reuters, ‘The 5-match Ashes series was very strong. We are working with every player and have made the best plan for each player to recover from injury. The T20 World Cup is going to start from next month under the joint hosting of India and Bangladesh. Australia are in Group B and will start their campaign against Ireland in Colombo on February 11.
