The Indian cricket team has made it to the final of the T20 World Cup 2026. In the semi-final match played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, Team India defeated England by seven runs and made it to the final. Sanju Samson scored his second consecutive half-century and was named Player of the Match for his explosive innings. This was Sanju Samson’s second consecutive match-winning innings. Therefore, when he came to receive the Player of the Match award, former West Indies player Ian Bishop, who was present as the presenter, praised him profusely. Bishop congratulated Samson for his second consecutive Player of the Match. In response to this, Samson said, ‘All credit for the victory goes to Jasprit Bumrah. He is a world class bowler. Such bowlers come once in a generation. His performance in this match was similar. The Player of the Match award should really go to him. If we had not bowled like that in the death overs, I think I would not be standing here. Ian Bishop was very impressed after hearing this from Samson and called him a true leader. Sanju Samson played an important role with the bat and Jasprit Bumrah with the ball in the victory of the Indian team. Sanju Samson scored 89 runs in 42 balls with the help of 7 sixes and 8 fours, while Bumrah took two wickets for just 33 runs in four overs. In this, eight and six runs were given in the 16th and 18th overs respectively. These two overs turned the tide of the match in India’s favour. If Bumrah’s overs had not been economical then the Indian team could have lost this match. That’s why Sanju praised Bumrah. If we look at the match, India lost the toss and batted first and scored 253 runs with the help of Sanju Samson’s 89 runs in 42 balls. Despite Jacob Bethel’s memorable inning of 105 runs in 48 balls with the help of seven sixes and eight fours, England could only score 246 runs for seven wickets and lost the match by seven runs.
