Madhubani: A case of alleged inhuman treatment of a woman (40 years old) has come to light in Ghoghardiha area of Madhubani district of Bihar. It is alleged that at the village head’s house, the woman was tied to a pillar and beaten and when she asked for water, she was forced to drink alcohol. After the incident, the accused has been arrested by the police.
Brutality with the woman, death during treatment: After the incident, the victim woman was admitted to the hospital in critical condition, where she died during treatment. The police registered a case against several accused including the chief and his family members and started investigation. When the controversy in the case escalated, Madhubani Police confirmed the incident and gave information on X-Post on Saturday, March 7.
Allegation of family members, ‘She was tied to a pillar and beaten’: People of Amhi village of Ghoghardiha told that the incident took place on 25th February, when the victim woman reached the house of Mukhiya Kumari Devi to ask for help regarding the land dispute. During this time, a dispute over some issue increased. The family members of the deceased allege that when the dispute escalated, the chief called some more people and assaulted her.
The family members told, what happened that day? : Husband of the deceased, Mohd. Sahasuddin said, “She had gone to ask for help, but she was tied to a pillar and beaten brutally.” The police came and took him to the police station. The police talked to all of us and then released everyone. He was taken to PHC Ghoghardiha, where after first aid, seeing his condition was serious, he was referred to Sub-Divisional Hospital Phulparas.
“But his condition kept worsening, then he was referred to Darbhanga Medical College Hospital. From there he was referred to Patna for better treatment, where he died.” – Husband of the deceased, Mohd. Sahasuddin
Villagers told, ‘The woman was brutalized’: Villagers told that “she was hit with bamboo, after that she became unconscious.” Another village woman told that “she was beaten, she was made to drink urine mixed with alcohol.”
When the woman reached the chief’s house: State President of Mansoori community Ajay Mansoori has demanded action against the culprits. He told that, “The woman had a land dispute in her family. The matter was asked to be resolved in the Panchayat. But when the victim’s husband did not reach the Panchayat, the head’s son Magnu Singh went to his house and misbehaved with him. After which the victim woman reached the chief’s house. Then he was beaten up and made to drink alcohol mixed with urine.
What did Madhubani police say? DSP Amit Kumar said that on February 25, information was received about an incident of assault on a woman in village Amahi under Ghoghardiha police station of Madhubani district, after which the team of Dial 112 reached the spot and the injured woman was taken to the hospital for treatment, from where she was referred to Patna for better treatment.
The victim woman died during treatment on Sunday, March 1. Based on the application of the deceased’s family, a case was registered and the main accused Magnu Singh was arrested and immediate action was taken.” – Amit Kumar, DSP, Madhubani.
Resentment among people after the incident: When the dead body of the woman reached home, there was an uproar. There was screaming among the family members. The deceased has left behind three small children. There is anger among the people of the area after the incident. The deceased’s husband has demanded hanging of the accused.
