The body of 57-year-old Mahant Parasnath Maharaj was found lying in a pond in the monastery premises on Thursday morning in Jhak village of Barmer district. People are surprised as to how the Mahant died. Math servants told that at around 5 am on Thursday, as usual, they had gone to collect water from Tanka i.e. pond. Then he saw that Mahant Parasnath was swimming in water. When he was shaken, it became clear that he was dead. He immediately informed the villagers and the police.
According to the media report, the villagers told that when they reached near the pond on the information of the servants of the Math, they found that Mahant ji’s paduka had been kept in a very clever way. Some people are calling it suicide and some people are calling it murder and throwing the body in a pond. However, the police seized the body and sent it for post-mortem. Police say that they will investigate every aspect of the case.
Police say that they were informed about the incident at around eight in the morning. SP said that the people of the Math told during interrogation that Mahant was suffering from mental illness for some time and was also undergoing treatment. However, the police will investigate this matter from every angle. Let us tell you that Mahant Parasnath Maharaj was the abbot of Jhak Math for about 30 years. He was known not only as a religious guru but also as a social worker and reformer. The news of his death has created a wave of mourning in Jhak and Batadu areas.
